A little retail shuffle will make room for the fourth location of a popular French bakery in a prominent and historic downtown Portland building.

St. Honoré Bakery, which already has locations on Northwest Thurman Street, Southeast Division Street and in Lake Oswego, will open a new 2,000-square-foot bakery in the Morgan Building at 720 S.W. Washington St. The space is currently occupied by the Shutterbug camera shop, which will relocate to an adjacent retail space around the corner.

The news comes from Urban Renaissance Group, the Seattle real estate development and operating group that manages the building for owners Great Point Investors.

“We are delighted to have St. Honoré open a new space with us, as they are a perfect complement to other locally-owned and operated retail shops in the Morgan Building and in Morgan’s Alley,” said URG vice president and regional general manager Tom Kilbane, in a release. “This will be a great breakfast and lunch option for people that live, work or travel to downtown Portland.”

The new bakery will include a cafe and offer St. Honoré’s wide menu of pastries, desserts, breads, salads, entrees, sandwiches and catering items. Plans are tentatively set for a December opening.

“St. Honoré prides itself on creating the highest quality offerings, from sandwiches to salads and pastries to desserts,” said Dominique Geulin, the founder and owner of St. Honoré. “This prime location will allow us to serve the central business district — which is the perfect fit for our bakery as we continue to grow our business in the Portland market.”

Ashley Heichelbech and Kathleen Healy from Commercial Realty Advisors NW represented both the landlord and the tenant in the lease deal.

Urban Renaissance Group is also the developer behind the extensive renovation of the former Oregonian building, now known as 1320 Broadway. Elemental Technologies announced last month that it will be moving into four floors of that revamped building in May 2017.
